As Number of Slavery/Civil Rights Advocates/ Filmmakers/ Survivors of the Crack Era Dwindles, Educators of our future Queens and Kings are going to have to be able to be told from our own perspective/from OUR OWN DOCUMENTED HISTORY told from the people who are always being left out of your dialogues, debates, discussions, when discussing artists (I happen to think Justin Bua is one of the nicest to ever use paint.)
I was just enlightened by a story of an older Jewish Woman and the point that she had made is the exact same reason why I would like to do this same thing and have the same public support too as well.
The thing is this, If we are judged as a people/culture by our portrayals in films, movies, videos, news,newspapers, internet????
What I want to make happen is to be able to give an account that doesn't fit in a script written by someone who has been in the exact experience and it's not no more violent than what you show in prime time and it will be done with a few surprises adding to our future growth,
If iam allowed to transpose her and her people, it would be considered "fair" if I do it for our people. I know that off top I have to interview ALL of my folks' moms just because.
That's like I swear that I am still scared of my patnas mom to this day from when we were little knocking on the door to see if they could come outside and sometimes they mom would be mad at them or something and she would say "NO!" and slam the door, I still have the same level of respect for my elders as my grandmother and grandfather (Of course Moms too!), but that is the difference in disciplineless children, if you don't teach your children how to learn,.... Exactly my point.
